Southwark W4WE Hygiene Bank

We are W4WE.ORG.UK

At W4WE.ORG.UK, we believe it is unjust that feeling clean should be considered a luxury or a privilege for anyone in our society. However, many people are living in poverty and cannot afford to maintain basic hygiene. This is why our network of projects exists: to provide individuals with access to the essentials they need. We are a grassroots, people-powered charity and social movement, deeply rooted in the community. Our passion arises from recognising that hygiene poverty can prevent people from fully participating in society. Therefore, we are committed to inspiring social change.

What Does Hygiene Poverty Mean?

Due to financial constraints, hygiene poverty refers to the lack of access to essential hygiene products, such as soap, sanitary pads, and toiletries. This issue is a significant aspect of broader poverty and social inequality, impacting not just physical cleanliness but also mental well-being, social inclusion, and overall health. Hygiene poverty can lead to shame, social isolation, and a loss of confidence, particularly affecting vulnerable groups like women and children.

Our Approach

Items are donated, gathered, organized, and then distributed to our network of community allies—comprising a variety of organizations, charities, and schools—that assist those affected by poverty.

Supporting W4WE.ORG.Uk is an easy way to contribute not just to one group, but to numerous grassroots efforts across the UK, addressing a spectrum of challenges from poverty to domestic violence and disability.
