At W4WE, our mission is to ensure that all women in Southwark have access to their basic hygiene needs. We are dedicated to addressing the fundamental necessities that impact the well-being of women in our community. By advocating for and providing essential hygiene products, we strive to uplift women, ensuring they can live with dignity and health.
Our commitment to feminist principles drives us to not only address immediate needs but also to work towards a society where women’s rights are fully recognized and upheld. We believe that by focusing on the basic needs of women in Southwark, we contribute to creating a fairer and more equitable society for all.
Although much of our work begins with limited resources, our passion for making a difference fuels our efforts. We hope to inspire other organizations to join us in this mission, creating a network of support that empowers women and strengthens our community.
At W4WE, our initiatives are driven by a deep commitment to change and the empowerment of women, rather than by external funding only. Our core projects, such as the Feminist Leadership initiative, stem from a shared passion to effect meaningful change within our communities. This approach mirrors the grassroots origin of our efforts, much like how we envision our mission at W4WE.
We are determined to address the ongoing challenges that women face in accessing necessary resources. Inspired by campaigns like Pay Back the Tampon Tax, we aim to launch similar initiatives that challenge systemic inequalities and advocate for the rights and needs of women in our local community. These efforts will focus on ensuring that promises made to women’s organizations are fulfilled, and that they receive the support and recognition they deserve.
Our vision also includes establishing a Women’s Commissioning and Support Unit at W4WE, designed to secure significant funding for organizations working tirelessly to advance women’s rights. We recognize the importance of sustainable financial support in empowering these organizations to continue their vital work.
In line with this, W4WE will take a leading role in advocating for women’s rights by contributing to key reports and engaging with international bodies to highlight the state of women’s human rights in the UK. We aim to ensure that the experiences of women are accurately represented and that our work is recognized on both national and international stages.
We are also committed to amplifying the voices of women in policy-making processes, driven by the understanding that women’s perspectives are often underrepresented. Our upcoming Speaking Up for Women campaign will address this gap, advocating for equitable funding and the inclusion of women’s experiences in all areas of governance.
